turkey curry & my passion in cooking....

Tuesday, May 08, 2007
There's no much things to share today...
It was a very windy morning when I woke up to answer the call of nature (u know..sakit ng mga buntis...whew!) G went to work today. I was thinking what to do for the entire day...I don't feel bored like the previous days. So, I just find some things to do for me to get busy while waiting for G to come home from work. I found myself surfing in www.youtube.com again..and I had this big loud laugh when I watched again some episodes of Mr. Beans show..really a funny man! I could even feel my baby kicking so hard maybe likes the feeling that I am happy and burst out laughing. heheh!
Mamu told me I will be the one to cook our lunch..so she prepared turkey meat for us...so I'm happy..i will be cooking my favorite turkey curry again. hmmmm....taste yummy right? Well, one of my passion is cooking...though I am still not really an expert cook..and yet, I still aim to be a world renown chef. Naks naman A!..talaga! I really dreamed of that..but I think its not too late especially now that I am a wife and a mother..and most times I am just at home, so I have all the time to enhance my skills in cooking. Well, sa di naman maipagmamayabang...wala namang ibang masabi ang mga taong nakatikim sa luto ko..especially G..my number fan sa luto ko. One of his favorite is my beef caldereta, lumpia shanghai, sweet & sour pork and this one..curry recipe..mapa chicken man o turkey. Naku! sarap ng mga na mention ko na food nuh? well..my hubby is a filipino food fanatic. He likes Filipino cooking and rice too! heheh! I infected him in eating rice..opps..teka nga pala..favorite din nya ang chinese fried rice ko...pati pinoy sinangag na rice..sobra talaga! I know if he likes my cooking if when he is eating he is too silent..and really concentrating on the food..and he will just wink at me which means he likes it. Nothing really makes you happy if someone close to your heart like my hubby appreciate simple things you do. I love to cook for him and for everyone. I do not know where my passion in cooking started..maybe I was greatly influenced by the whole family especially my mom who is a great cook too. Though, when I was still single I do not have time to be in the kitchen. And when I hit the kitchen everyone will be surprised what made me cook..but when I cook for them they ask for more...hmmmmmm!
Now, that I am a household manager...although I still have to learn the arts of managing the household, I am pretty sure I will be a good one. Not only in cooking but in taking good care of my children and G. Kudos to my parents who brought me up in the right way...I owe a lot of things from them especially now that I am a mom, a wife. I would really practice the things my parents taught me. Opps.. I have to say my goodbye now. I could hear the doorbell rang and G is here! We will be eating my turkey curry :-) Don't worry I'll give you your share...my turkey curry pics next time.

sure sis! kaso when I tried to take a pic of my turkey curry today..the battery of my digicam was down..i forgot to charge it:-( next time though..as for the recipe it is so simple..here is it:

You can use chicken / turkey..especially there in pinas di gaano ka popular satin ang turkey plus turkeys there is expensive din.
This recipe is good for left over turkey but this time i dont have a left over turkey from a party or whatever...so i use turkey fresh from the market pa..besides I prefer turkey esp. the breast part since its more healthy than chicken..but chicken curry is my favorite too.

You need:
butter (i use 1/2 of the whole bar)
pineapple tidbits or cubes
1tbsp. of curry powder
1 tsp. of garlic powder (or u can use the real garlic just sliced it)
3-2 cups of chicken broth ( i use chicken broth cubes then dilute in hot water)
1/3 flour
steak seasoning ( i use maggi savor seasoning..naubusan ako ng steak seasoning eh)
onion ( a handful of it..and minced it)
1 can coconut milk

How to:
So, i fried first my turkey since its a fresh turkey from the market..im not using the leftover one. then when its done..set aside

on a hot skillet melt the butter,
then pour the onions..let it cook till translucent or tender, add 1/3 cup flour to thicken the sauce & dont let it brown..stir it. Add next the 1 tbsp of curry powder, 1 tsp. of garlic powder, steak seasoning (i just pour a sprinkle a little of it), a dash of salt, pineapple tidbits (drained it), add the cooked turkey and cook over medium heat.
Taste it..and to make it more taste good.. i added 1 can of coconut milk. ( sorry sis here we dont have fresh gata only in cans) 1 can is 165ml..one cup will do for this. Try it and enjoy!

Sorry ha... kabisado ko na kasi tong recipeng to..so i do eye balling nalang in the mixing. I have other ways of cooking curry too..next nalang din ang recipe. heheh! oh wait, when u add the coconut milk and simmer it..try to stir it from time to time so the sauce will not curddle..tendency kasi of the gata it will curddle.

Cook it for ur hubby too...he will love it..purely asian cooking.

Tks for dropping by!

Oh, You like Mr. Bean too! I can watch him over and over and never tire of his antics! Hehehe.

Hope you are doing some exercise regimen to prepare you for easier delivery. Walking, to me, is the best exercise for pregnant women. Take care!
