Mommy Moments: Fear to poop on the toilet bowl

Friday, January 20, 2012

Been awhile not joining here in mommy moments. Today, i decided to take part since I know a lot can relate to what I am facing now with my daughter. here is my letter to all....hope you could help me in some ways.
Dear Mommies,

I have a 4 year old daughter who is now afraid to poop on the toilet bowl. She's had problems with constipation in the past and so has had painful poops. Her pediatrician prescribed her a stool softener which we give her and still holds her poop in fear of pain. She pees on the toilet bowl without a problem. for some reason pooping is a major anxiety for her. I am assuming other mom's out there has the same predicament as mine. We've tried positive reinforcement, rewards, strategies, role playing with her favorite stuffed toys ..name it we've done it! but still she get terrified when needing to go to the toilet and stop the poops from coming out. I get so frustrated sometimes that I end up getting angry and annoyed, since i am also taking care of my youngest son who is sick right now.
Now the best advice i want is to how i could morally support my child and successfully end what becomibg a battle of wills.how can you help someone learn something when they keep refusing to do it?anecdotes to what you do with your child something similar would greatly appreciated and would be helpful. i know this is a test of my profession..and at the same time test of patience. hugs!

a little frustrated mom,

ai

It might be gross to tag her in when you do your thing but it could help, too. Children learn from imitations eh!

I guess patience really is a virtue, or perhaps in our case as mom's it is a talent, LOL!

visiting you from MM..
hope you could take a peek at my Indian boy

hi mommy Ai! maybe you can watch an educational cartoon or something that would show her why she needs to poop. also, maybe you can play with her and pretend that her dolls or toys are humans.

dont forget to pray for her :) im sure the good Lord will answer your prayers! :D
