Happy Independence day Philippines!

Rizal: Inday, ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika, ay mas masahol at masangsang pa sa halimaw at malansang isda. (He who does not know how to look back where he came from will never get to his destination. He who does not love his own language is worse than an animal and smelly fish.)

Inday: Thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom. But don’t you know that I’ve already read all your writings. And unfortunately, I was really disappointed because majority of your novels were written in Spanish and Latin. So, therefore,
you are the ultimate violator of your own aphorism.

Rizal: Yabang mo! Halimaw! (your so braggart! Monster!)

The best Tagalog joke ever. This is not intended to insult our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal for I truly admire his courageous writings and flight to win our country back.

Happy Independence day to my country Philippines!

When can we actually be truly free?

 Mabuhay!

Fashion Inspiration: Philipp Tampus

This is one sewing style/ technique I wanted to try on..draping! Back home, a friend taught me how to do draping in dresses and gowns. But here, I do not have the mannequin where it would be easy to manipulate such technique. To further enhance my knowledge, I searched the internet for easy draping tutorials and interested to buy this drape drape book by a Japanese author.  I am hoping someday I would be successful in draping. I am infact trying one right now. We'll see....

Today, I'd like to get inspiration from a close family friend and a neighbor, Philipp Tampus who's now a famous fashion designer in the Philippines after joining Project Runway Season 1. He is great for drapey designs, lacey, romantic, classy and sophisticated designs. He's one humble person I know. No airheads. I understand how and where he gets inspirations from his works, from his family and how he was raised, especially by his mom who loves crocheting. His project runway finale collections is of lace & crochet inspired designs. Truly inspired by his mother, Manang Pacing.

He's one ordinary guy I know back then. He went abroad to work as a designer and now, would surely stay foot in the Philippines to share his talent and designs to aspiring young designers, sewing enthusiast like me. That isn't too late to dream, try and enhance your talent and of course share it to the world and especially to your fellow countrymen/compatriot is such an honor and a blessing.

I am inspired and I have to rally hard to try my hands more on draping and other sewing technique. I also support indie designers and local talents.

Philipp Tampus shop is located in Mabolo Cebu City, Philippines.
You may also like his Facebook page for more info and how to contact him : Philipp Tampus Atelier

Till next fashion inspiration.

Have a blessed day everyone!

CEBU!

All i have today is one happy emotion.

Excitements just sink in.

List of things to do and bring is of no ending.

Countdown begins!

18 more days to go....................CEBU will welcome us!

The place where i was born and raised. The place where my hearts belongs and will always be special to me. If you don't know where is it read HERE.

It's one of the best place to spend summer. white beaches, good foods and good buys are all in one place. That's something about my place- Cebu that i truly miss. and of course the people. The friendly Cebuano's will always welcomes you with a genuine smile.

We will be spending a month there with the whole family. First time with my children to be in a tropical place. So they don't know what to expect. They only knew about beaches in Cebu and that makes my daughter excited and giddy to get there for she always love swimming and making sand castles.  it would also be her first time to get to taste the sea water. We will see how will she reacts.....

I know how excited family back home to see my children as well and how they are preparing for our coming. In Philippine culture pasalubong or gifts, they expects you have one when you came from abroad or out of Philippines but for me the perfect pasalubong for them are my kids. They are the joy of my parents. The lolo's (grandfather) and lola's (grandmother) pride.

List of itinerary's needs to be  finalize. But seems I am in trouble what to do there first and who to meet first. With so many friends in line for meet ups, i do not know who would i want to meet first. I think i need one venue and occasion to meet them all. Family reunions are set in time for our coming...and one wedding invitation. most of all, list of foods...foods....foods i've been wanting to eat and experience once again. i NEEDED to be in Food coma right now!

So maybe i can't update much this blog while on vacation. But i would try my best to update about our adventure.

Cebu, cebu, cebu! Here i come!

P.S. expect more sewing and blogging when i get back.

Trip home

February is about to end. Can't wait for March to kick in and then April.

Finally, we settled our ticket for Philippines. It would be April right after Easter. It is about time for me to be back home after 5 long years living away from home.  This time I would fulfill what is on top of my bucket list. To be  back home with hubby and our two children. This is one of the best gift of hubby - these  tickets last Christmas.

For now, I am trying to settle things in the house and planning our trip when in Phillippines. As much as possible we wanted to maximize our time  with family and sight seeing of course.

A buddy referred me to plan our trip through Gogobot. When they went to America it was a useful site for them especially when they were looking for hotels around New York City. The new york city hotel reviews in the site helps them a lot to where to stay and what not to miss around the city.   The site has an iOs travel application as well, so it would be more accessible anytime anywhere .  So right away, I hitch in. Followed some of my friends who are using the same way to plan their travels.  Right there, I  can make a plan for our trip and ask members around for hotel recommendations to places we wanted to visit. Though I am familiar with some of the places we wanted to visit but been 5 years now I am not that updated anymore with what's the latest and what to avoid. Such feedbacks and recommendations from the websites really a helpful tool for us since we are also bringing two active toddlers.

So, I am finalizing our itinerary and hopefully our trip home would be easy.

How I wish

I do not know what to say and how to begin.....

I know i miss a lot of things here. Nevertheless, I am checking from time to time, just that my time and energy couldn't blog that much due to my very demanding career as a mom. Most of my time is with my two children and taking care of the household. Anyways, yeah! i do not know what to blog about today exactly so many things running into my mind. What is really into mind now is the recent tragedy in the Philippines. Awhile back, i watched the news there. The plight of the victims and the aftermath of the typhoon are really horrible. It was one of the worst and tragic experienced of the Filipinos. Rich and poor alike are not spared.

All I can do now is to wish.........(sigh)

How I wish I am there to help and volunteer but then I am way too far. All I can do is to share little things that we have and pray for the quick recovery of the victims.

How I wish I have a supernatural power to put back everything that was lost.

How I wish I am as rich as Bill Gates so i could share and donate a lot.

How I wish I have the power to heal the hearts of those who still in trauma.

How I wish, how I wish......

That is all I can do is to wish.

But I am lifting all these wishes up there in heaven so God will spare more blessings back to my homeland -Philippines.

For sure peace and love will prevail always in our hearts especially at this time of crisis.
