Small projects

Lately been dealing with the projects I wanted to accomplished soon. These are things I have in mind and I want to be successful in this. But I didn't know there are lots of things to deal with...from sample making, suppliers of the materials, marketing and product labelling. Everything in mind needs to be executed  just right.  I've been asking mi amore to always check on me, the progress of my projects. Sometimes we needed to be push to keep us going, isn't it? So, I asked  mio amore to be the boss. Good thing though, he can deal & relates with me on this aspects. 

That is one of the sample of that small projects I've been doing lately. It was not fully finished when I took that picture for I'm too excited looking at it. Cute right? makes me want to have a small little girl again. Yay!

My small projects would be clothings for babies, kids and some other small accessories or things that is useful & necessary if you have little ones. Of course, I am trying to win and finding a good supplier of organic goods/materials. If any of you knows one, please let me know at once. like fabrics, ribbons, buttons, cord and so on....

Since, I'm a full time mom of two kids I know the essential things and what is come in handy, that makes me think of making such small things to small people that both  mom & kids would surely love. This would take time to deal with for sure not unless I have to concentrate really on this. For honestly, I'm not making full concentrations lately. A lot of distractions and taking care of two active kids who likes to stay outdoors all the time when the sun is up is another story to deal with. Anyhow, this would be for now. I have all the sketches at home just needed executions and sample projects to make it going. Soon this would be realized.  Wish me all the luck.

Yes! A bombshell swimsuit pattern that everyone in the sewing blogosphere are buzzing about.......

This is one of the many fabulous surprise in this sewing blogging community. Heather Lou of Closet Case Files emailed me that I won in a blog contest at Novita's blog verypurpleperson. Really fantastic! Been eye-ing on this pattern for sometime now. Blame the whole sewing community for they convinced me that this is absolutely great pattern to work with. I'm hard to please when it comes to swimwear and clothes that involves more skin exposure. I'm not into it. It isn't me. I'm such a MARIA. :-) And I always seek for one that isn't too modern yet vintagey in style. So when I bumped into this bombshell swimsuit that everyone is talking about, I can't help but put it in my sewing list to do this summer. Never did I know, I will get this as a price. All for free! Who would not love free, right?

The sew-along with this pattern is now going on. So, I'm still in the process of gathering my materials but for sure I can't follow right on time with the sew-along for there's more important things I needed to attend to. For sure, when I'm back I'll work with this swimsuit right away. Hopefully, something to look forward to wear and use this summer. Just the right time! for I needed to give myself a break after a long cold winter and being sick And I hope, I will have the courage to share with you all the outcome of this bombshell swimsuit that everyone been trying on and  this time  ME wearing it. Yay! something new to watch here. For it is my first time sewing a swimwear but as well first time exposing myself with more skin. I love my confidence these days.......Oh well, just inspired.

Tutu skirt & Sosnowiec Szyje (Sosnowiec Sewing Club)

 A lot of sewing projects are filing up at this time. I have to find time real time soon to at least finish one sewing project a week.  Blame this unpredictable Polish weather. It sucks!  It rains most of the time here in our side of Poland. I won't complain anymore though.

Last May, I made this somewhat tutu like skirt. 

The story behind this.... Originally it's a maxi skirt given by an Aunt 7 years ago. But I don't know what gotten into my mom's head when she sent some of my stuffs from Philippines that she reap this off and made into a pregnancy dress that I don't like. So, I refashioned it to like this now.....A tutu!

 I need a killer heels on this. *wink!


Thinking of putting some lace ribbon on the hemline. I think it will look great. What do you think?

And, I have to find a great occasion to wear this tutu thing.

By they way, sewing clubs are getting popular now here in Polandia. 

I'm glad! (clapping hands)

In fact, I found one that at least could relate to my passion and hobby - sewing. Of course my dear sewing blogger friend LONG RED THREAD introduced me this sewing club Sosnowiec Szyje. So, makes me giddy and without much hesitation I hop in to their Facebook page and join. I'm IN! Hoping some sewing bloggers and sewing fanatic there could relate to me or actually could speak English to me though. It would also be a wonderful idea for me learn the Polish language. I hope I could meet some of the member in person. That would be great! Sit with them in a cafe sharing our thoughts about sewing and crafty stuffs. Sonja dress in tulip print

 

This dress is looking for an owner. I made this  out of boredom one lousy day. 

(Blame my hormones again!) 

Without thinking & remembering that size 38 isn't my size and way too big in the bust area. I am  (still) size 36. It is a Sonja dress in tulip print.  It is a  free pattern that is easy to sew and a versatile pattern to work with. The fabric is a jersey type in black and white colour. I think, I will give it away to a friend.

Petion: Make more men patterns BURDA!

  

I never sew any garments for my boys and been wanting to but due to lack of patterns and my sewing skills for men isn't that great like making a piece of trousers.Still needed harnessing. But how can I hone this skill if I couldn't see any patterns that is accessible for me, right? And everytime I sew something for my little girl my little boy would always say, how about me mum? (oh, pity little one)

Good thing though a group of Polish sewing bloggers / community made a petition to burda magazine to at least produce and make more men patterns. Our men deserves a pattern and a good garment right? Knowing too that more men now are becoming so conscious of buying handmade things. Would be a good alternative too as a gift for all our men. So, why not make more pattern for men. The sewing skills isn't only limited to sewing women's garments but for men too.

Come on! You need to improve Burda. Produce some patterns for men not only once a year but at least a page indicated for men.

The last time I also participated in such a cause was like a year ago. Where,  we want Burda to improve into their styling and patterns. Though, they improve a little bit.  So, before hitting the magazine shop to buy a Burda magazine, I checked on bloggers reviews first for the latest issue, if it worthy for me to pick the new one or not. So I won't be disappointed and knowing too that such magazine isn't that cheap. More or less 12Pln. in here. That is too much for me. Good enough to buy a yard of fabric actually.

Thrift shop adventure: Fabrics

It rains like crazy. 

I'm super bored.

Today, I managed to go to a nearby thrift shop and found this wonderful fabrics. This would be a wonderful material for my sewing project this spring and summer.
 

Overall, I paid 35 złoty. *wink! Isn't it awesome? For usually fabrics here per meter or yard cost most likely 20-30zloty, depending on the fabric of course.

Spring dress

Dreaming of spring...... so I end up sewing this dress on a very cold snowy day. 

When weather sucks, Keep calm and sew on!

Zipper is black in colour for I have no other time to buy a white one and I wanted to finish the project in one day.

I can't wait for real spring to come.  Probably, would be my Easter dress too!

I bought the floral fabric at Piegatex Tkaniny, a fabric shop near my city. About 8km from the place where I live. I blogged their shop here. I chose the shop for it's closest to home and I like to touch and feel the  fabrics before buying.

Robe Sureau Pattern

Look! what i have here.

 I received my Robe Sureau Pattern last Wednesday and I can't wait for the sew-along to start. Though, I am a bit nervous since it's my first time to join such sewing activity online. I'm no pro in sewing you know! but I am challenging myself.

Now, time to hunt for a nice fabric for this pattern.

Daughter's dress-pattern

Been eyeing on this dress for sometime now for my daughter. It is from Burda magazine.

 So I trace the  pattern....(after many times figuring out the name of the pattern paper  in Polish at last i bought one. The power of blogging made it all possible. I asked one Polish sewing blogger the name and where to buy such,then now i have it.)  a good pattern paper is here at last!

I'll be making the white one in the picture.

Pointy Kitty

My first project this year 2012. 

Yehey! 

I found this pattern few years ago  at wee wonderfuls when I just started sewing and crafting . 

Weeks ago, hubby turned a year old. Every birthday i have no idea what to give to him, So i made this pointy kitty just as a gift. It was a last minute decision.  

He's a cat fan (if you don't know). And he was so happy & surprised with my gift. Priceless seeing him happy and keeping it in a special place in the house. will be making more of this for my kids.

It would be a nice fun project too to get away with scrap fabrics.

Collar-dict

anything about collars right now fascinates me. I do not know why! maybe because it reminds me a lot of my childhood days wearing peter pan colar dresses and blouses with lacey socks on and over a mary jane shoes.

I grew up in a family of sewers (if you don't know). My grandmother sew a lot for a living, my aunt is a well known seamstress in our town and my mom sew too but she's good in curtain sewing. So imagine my little girl days surrounded with all things sewing related....fabrics, beads, threads, needdles and that old singer sewing machine that I wanted to own right now. The old pedal type one. yey! there is no doubt i will also get my hand into sewing.

Browsing a lot in the net today about collars and collars and collars...i am now officially collar-dict (short for collar addict) what a word. But i am guilty about that. Most of my blouses and dresses right now are with either peter pan collars or just with plain collar.

So today, i found a wonderful work of Paunnet. her version of Megan Nielsen's scallop edge tutorial....

Meet Rebecca

Hello! This is Rebecca. 

It's my first bunny stuffed toy. 

The patttern of this bunny is taken from Burda Magazine 6/2010 -Polish edition. I've been wanting to make this bunny for long time but i have no idea where on earth here in Poland where i can find a cotton polyfill.  Good thing that my Polish close friend bought me one and introduced me where and what it is in Polish. 

I'm happy! So happy to have this toy. I gave this one to my daughter and she give birth to the name Rebecca. And it was my daughters idea to put Rebecca a big bow on her other ear. She loves her to death now. She said, she has a new baby.

So here, meet Rebecca! 

I would be making more of this bunny for sure.

Meet Lidia

Meet Lidia my colorful sewing machine. It was a birthday gift from dear husband some years ago. When i saw this sewign machine in the shop, i immediately know that it's the machine i like. The outlook fits to my personality....happy and cheerful. It really brightens my day even more since I got addicted to sewing and found it as an awesome hobby lately.

But, I miss Lidia so much. I can't even remember the last time i got hold of her..touch her and use her. I am pretty bad. I miz sewing so much so as Lidia. I have a box of scrap fabrics and I do not know what to do with them. All I know, I needed to get rid of this scrap as soon as possible since it just added clutter in the house. Today, I challenge myself to do something with this scraps. Simple projects every week using all these terrible scrap fabrics. I started doing some small projects some weeks ago but i stopped due to time constraint. I seldom even blog nowadays since most of my time are with the kids.  Then, i have to keep moving since colder days are now here. It is the best time to sew my hearts out. More time indoors and less time outdoors. So to keep myself busy and not to get bored with the cold weather i have to do some sewing projects. And of course, this time i promise myself to post what i did here to keep track of my sewing skills.  Other than the  scrap fabric challenge, two of my friends here are now pregnant and they are asking me to sew some maternity dresses for them. That's a big challenge for me! i like it..........makes me more motivated to sew and learn things in the process. 

Wish me all the luck in my sewing projects. 

Summery blouse

I know summer is almost over but i do not want this summer to end without sharing some of the recent things I made.

First time for me to upload my project in burda since I usually just don't blog about it. This time I promise myself that I have to upload and share what i made.  

I am that shy you know :-D exactly I do not have that confidence to share what i made and what I can do.

I get most of my confidence now from other sewing bloggers and from my friends. And most especially inspired by hubby to do my best and try until I learn the trick of the trade.

Pretty Paunnet Pouch

This is something I should not miss blogging. 

Last week, I got this wonderful pouch bag and a  needle wallet from pretty Anna of Paunnet.

I am oh well of course! impressed with the stuffs she sent  me. I am just a simple person and easy to pleased. But this one really knocks me off.

The colors are absolutely very ME. I love lively happy colors of sunny yellow, read, blue plus if with dotted ones. Craftmanship wise, very impressive. 

What i do like about the clutch as i call it or pouch bag is that, it is little gathered and  lined with the same color from the outside with some compartment inside. To separate the stuffs you would like to put into it. 

Actually, i used it last Sunday in the church. Love it! since i could only put everything necessary for me to bring in the church..my keys, some money, my smart phone & lipbalm.

The needle wallet is a saver for a mom like me with two active kids who loves to play with my sewing stuffs , especially they are very curious to try on my needles. So, this needle wallet would surely keep the needles away from the eyes of my mischievous toddlers. 

Anna designed it in an envelope style wallet, which is a creative idea as well.

The inside...

So it is actually easy to tuck in the needles on the fleece fabric attached to it. Pretty!

and so, i am trying to get a better angle picture of this pouch bag.

i like to make the old brick wall as background of the pouch to see the beauty of it.

or at the garden..hang it on the plants. 

Wherever I put it, I like the way it is. "Just lovely!" as what my daughter said.
