Scallops

Tuesday, May 24, 2011
I do not know what is in this scallop thingy that i got hooked on them lately. I saw them on the blogosphere for sometime now and it is really a hit.  From skirt, dresses, blouses and with hats. Let me show you some of the wonderful bloggers who made tutorials on scallops.

A wonderful tutorial of scallop hat happening yesterday at Grosgrain site. Novite again did a wonderful tutorial on how to make a scallop hat. Here

Another scallop tips from Magdamagda is also something new to me when it comes to making scallop hemming.

The scallop waist skirt free pattern tutorial of Vivat Veritas is also adorable one to try on.

Just like the DIY scallop button up skirt pattern tutorial of Nette is also a knock-out for a scallop addict like me.

The first time i really hook on scallops is i think when I stumbled upon the blog of VAIN and VAPID. She has a wonderful scalloped edge tutorial there too.

From then on.....I am addicted and obsessed with this scallops.

And that makes me miz eating scallop seafoods.

*sigh!

How about you do you like scallops?

Soon, I would be posting my scallop adventure here too. For now, I am working on my PIF 2011 give-away. Yey!

By the way, if you know any interesting scallop tutorial, please let me know.

Spring blouse & dress projects

Tuesday, May 10, 2011
At last, my spring blouse project is finally here. Yehey!

It was not a wonderful sewing ride actually for this blouse. I have a different design in mind but due to limited time, I didn't make it and change my mind the last minute.

Here's the spring blouse I made and finally (almost) finished yesterday. It is a kimono like style of blouse. I wanted to make another one like that but maxi one. But I only have that fabric so I just make use of what I have so as not to waste some scraps of fabric.

If your a professional seamstress you would actually see the flaw of the dress and the other mistake. The hemline when I took that pic is still not that align. As well as the 1st layer of the bottom part is not that align, because it was shirred and ruffled so it is not that obvious, right? For a novice sewer like me, I am happy and content with the outcome anyway. hehehe! hubby commented I look preggy and so i said it was really made that way. :-p

Today, I put that out as profile picture of my facebook account. A lot of my girlfriends were reacting that I did a long way with my passion. Yey!

*blushing

not really good yet but nice one for a starter like me.
Infact, two of my girlfriends wanting the same blouse. hahahah!

Since the hemline is not perfectly align  i was thinking if i will hem it down or just put a white lace on it..what do u think?

On the other note, My other friend is asking me to sew her the dress she designed.  At present, she is a freelance model here and I know she has a talent in designing. So today she shared to me her design and asking me if I could make this dress for her.  Please see below designs...

1st dress..she named this CASSANDRA :-d nice name
She envisioned this dress with a sequence fabric on the lower part, with an embroidered tube top. Let me know what you think is the best material for this dress.

2nd dress: I like her idea of layered scallop dress. Now, I have to come up with a pattern for this and find the best material for such design. So any suggestions on the fabric and materials I should use?

By the way, this is my friend, Zsamae.  She is a freelance model here. For any modelling ideas she is up to the challenge.

 *wink!

Inspiring tutorials

Thursday, April 28, 2011
Wonderful tutorials that i would like to try on hopefully this summer.

I love this idea of the skirt especially this summer when your out for vacation. hehehe! saving time and space.

Of course, many of my close friends knows that i am a sucker of accessories especially necklaces & earrings. The chunkier the better for me. My wardrobe would not be complete with a matching accessories. I made my own accessories too. Sad thing though I don't get to make a lot of them here in Poland due to lack of supplies. Back home, i have a jewelry suppliers and cost of materials their is way too cheap than here in Europe. So really dreaming to be back home.
So, this hardware store necklace tutorial of Made by Lex is a wonderful cost saving idea.

Really pretty necklace isn't it?

And of course, the ongoing tutorial at Grosgrain  for her free pattern month is something i am looking forward too everyday. In fact, trying on the first tutorial of Sew Convert, sunny resort blouse pattern today. Hopefully, I could get to finish it tomorrow.

This crochet detachable collar tutorial of iro iro at Vivat Veritas site is also quite an inspiration for a crochet and collar lover like me. Not only that! the free bag pattern of Nette  is also a pretty thing to do this summer and a nice gift idea to girlfriend's on their special day.
And of course, the free hand machine embroidery tutorial of Paunnet is something I should not miss doing. I love embroidery and i love to make things with special embroidery on it. So, I am giddy to try this on too.

Today, I am making a dress with a scallop edge inspired by the  scalloped edge tutorial of Vain and Vapid. So far, pretty sewing it fast and hopefully to finish it by tomorrow or before the weekend.

And now, I have to find time at least once a week to do those wonderful inspiring tutorial.

Online fabric stores in Poland

Thursday, April 14, 2011
Recently, i am an avid follower of this sewing /crafty blogger named LONGTHREAD. She has impressive pretty creations over there at her site, so  no wonder I am in love with her site right away. Another perk for a non polish speaker like me is that, I can understand all her posting for she also interpreted it into english. I

I've been looking for good fabric shops here in Poland for longtime now. That is my number one problem here when I just starting with my sewing hobby...........fabrics........and other sewing materials. The power of internet really do works wonders at this age, just search it online and blog hop from one blogger to another who has the same interest with yours..then voila! you can find anwers to your queries and enjoy still your passion. even if your living in a foreign land.

So, i inquired from LONGTHREAD where i can possibly buy sort of materials for sewing especially fabrics. She is so kind to answer me back with list of Polish sites where I can possibly buy online.  These are the online fabric shops she told me about........

Other than those, there are also sellers in Allegro.pl or Ebay.pl. But with the two i need to know the polish name of such  materials like the particular name of the fabric. So far, i am settled with those three online shops.
Isn't it great news for me? Now, i am hopping there to find some materials for my projects.

Wish me luck!

I'm back home

Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Thank you all for praying with me for the success of my ovarian cyst removal. It was a tough one for me. It was my first time to be operated, and i am so afraid of that. I do not like staying in the hospital actually, especially i would be out of home for some days leaving behind my little ones. Good thing though, everything is fine now. I do not want to talk about it now...so erase erase! though i made my own diary while i was in the hospital. but thinking not to share it here. I want to forget being sick and move on to a more happier topic here.

I am back! therefore, I can blog regularly I hope.

The past days was such a down day for everyone in the world as Japan was slapped by a big earthquake and tsunami. I was in my hospiatal bed when my husband relate to me the tragedy. It was so tragic not only for people in Japan but for everyone in the world, because it can happen to any one, to any country, to any place and anytime. I knew few friends and wonderful bloggers living in Japan so I am a bit worried when I heard the news. So, I am in one in praying for the recovery of Japan, and hoping such tragedy will not happen again.

if you know Sachiko of Tea Rose Home, she's an awesome blogger who lives in Japan. I love her site too and her other pretty tutorials. She is running a fund raising campaign right now to help in a little way her country, Japan. Head on to her site and please donote.

and please do spread the fund raising campaign in your site.

In the lighter note, today i decided to print some patterns that is pending in my pendrive for sometime now. I can't wait to be back in the sewing world once again since I could smell spring is coming.  So today, I printed the port elizabeth blouse I found in burda site. I love the simplicity of this pattern and very versatile too. Probably I will modify a little this blouse and maybe make a dress out of this pattern. Lovely!

Can't wait for tomorrow and start sewing this blouse. Yey! while hubby is on leave and while I am still recuperating I think sewing is the only way can help me relax and get back into my physical self once again.

I'm back!

Blogging & Sewing Inspirations

Friday, January 21, 2011
I am making tuna casserole for lunch later, while waiting for the pasta to be ready, here  I am hitting the keyboard trying to keep up with blogging. Multi tasking isn't it? While also, my children are still busy with their games and toys. So before they get cranky and ask my attention...blog blog blog!

In the next few days, i will be rockin a new do :-D how is that?

yey! (*giggles)

Yesterday, i was able to make something of the fabric scraps i have at home. I made some headbands for my little girl and a girly ruffled summer dress that she wore till bedtime. heheheh!  It was not as good as I expect it to be but my little girl is very (always) happy when  she  knew that what is wearing is made my me. In fact, every now and then she keeps on asking me if it is done so she can wear it right away.
But, I think today I have to make alteration of the dress because it is a bit bigger to her on the shoulder side and hopefully take some pictures of her wearing the dress.  However, the headband turned out great and  she is wearing it actually now while i am blogging.

Moreover, today I have to get rid of a lot of things in our drawers, closets. And hopefully get to see some clothes is still can be altered and refashion. I think this year i have to be  serious with sewing. I just had a lot of thoughts lately, that i have to keep myself busy with things aside from always busy taking care of my kiddos.  They eat ups most of my time, yet I thought that i have to do something with myself too. So i am giving this year a good way to seriously sew dresses for myself, my children and for close friends.  I hope so i could retain the motivation.

While surfing the net, there were so many bloggers out there...sewing bloggers to be particular who really inspires me to keep moving with my passion and hobby. Since I joined BURDA STYLE  community site, I am hooked to the site and really really inspired by a lot of the members but sometimes I am so envious with what they achieved so far in sewing. It is a good sign that i have to keep going isn't it?

There is this seamstress in Japan, CHIE of VIVAT VERITAS I been following and in fact a fan of her site, i read her  blog  almost everyday. She would be a mom soon too.  She has pretty girly stuffs at her shop in etsy.com.  If she happens to stumble upon my humble blog, i hope she would be happy to know that she inspires me a lot to pursue sewing not just as a hobby but a passion.

Another blogger and passionate sewer that I often visit is Dana of MADE.  She has a lot of tutorials collections for childrens clothes , home decor and other stuffs. So, I get a lot of my inspirations there too for my children and as a mom.  But i wonder how she managed to keep up with sewing and taking care of her children. That i need to ask her how.

I discovered this A Polish blogger Marchewkowa, as well lately while blog hopping. She has great passion in all things vintage and retro. Like me, I like vintage, retro style. There something into it that is really so fashionistic. Elegant and classy I think is the word.  She do sew her clothes too.

Made by lex site is also not an exception. She is a darling in the sewing world too and  i think she just made her debut owning a clothing  line & shop,  STRIPES  just last year.

A young fashion and sew blogger from England, Sadies' Wardrobe is also  wonderful.  She made some of her clothes and coats. And also a fun  of vintage things like me.

Of course, other two asian bloggers that I love are CROCHETIE and VERY PURPLE PERSON. Both of them are so artistic and creative too when it comes to sewing and doing crafty stuffs.

There are lots of inspiring bloggers out there that really inpires me, and above are just one of them that inpires me and lift my spirits everyday. I would try to put a more list soon since I am still rebuilding my site and putting up again my bloglist.

I really do believe that we need a little inspiration from time to time to really keep up with what we already have in our hearts like our passion and hobbies. That is one life's secret in order to be happy is to be inspired to get motivated.
